How to Be a Better Christian

Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. In-stead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. Romans 6:13 (NLT)

Many of us refocus from time to time on how we can be better Christians. Often our goals involve doing things with our whole body. Paul suggests that instead of focusing on the whole body, we should plan for all our body parts to serve God. “Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God…” says Paul (Romans 6:13 NLT). He continues that we should use our whole body, eve-ry part of ourselves, to do what is right. I wonder what would happen if each day, I conse-crated my individual body parts as well as my whole body to Christ. God, today, I give you my feet. Help me to walk where you lead. Father, today I give you my mouth. Give me a song to sing Your praises. Lord, I give you my hands. Show me someone who needs a help-ing hand. This week, try using your “whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God”–right down to your toes!

Family Activity: Try this Pipe Cleaner Body Prayer. Give each person a few pipe clean-ers. Shape different body parts. Talk about how you could dedicate each body part to Christ and use it for His glory. Pray about your body parts asking God to use each one.
